TheGlassStudio Image 225 – RED FLASHED BIRDS

‘Flashed’ glass is a centuries-old type of two-layer, mouth-blown glass which was very popular in the late 1800’s because it’s perfect for subtle etching and artwork. The Glass Studio made extensive use of flashed glass for its custom windows to work authentically in the Victorian style. This charming transom window is a perfect example, with a hand-made, ‘birds & branches’ centre etched into a circle of Lamberts red-on-clear flashed glass. It also has four mouth-blown rondels, distinctive cast jewels and vibrant opal colours. Ripple and English ‘muffle’ glass are used for the borders and backgrounds. Signed “The Glass Studio 2018“. Unframed. Size 46-3/4″ wide x 12-3/8” high.
